the metro could not cooperate less

  • thankfully i was already at work and not on the train, but my line at my stop derailed this morning!!!! 6 car train off the tracks, packed with people. the nightmare never ends. they have K st. closed, trying to get passengers out and ok.
  • the best part is that the metro was extra crowded today (at least as far this week goes) because the rest of the DC working world resumed, deeming it safe to leave their homes after "snowmageddon". Jokes on them.

i can't even handle the adorableness

Snowmageddon

the facts:
  • 18 inches recorded at Reagan Internat'l Airport
  • 32 inches recorded at Dulles Internat'l Airport
  • people went crazy and left the grocery store shelves bare
  • stores sold out of snow shovels
  • we tried to make a snowperson, alas, DC does not produce packing snow
  • work was canceled on monday (today) but nobody told me until it was too late
  • saw people unburrying their cars by hand, one dude with a lacrosse stick
  • metro has become overwhelmingly dysfunctional
  • exhibit A: i waited for the train for 40 min.s this morning (before i was told i didn't need to go into work)no one knows if it ever showed up. (no one being me)
  • sledding would be great if we could get to a store to buy a sled, but we can't
  • this is DC's 4th worst storm in history
  • truly this storm has paralyzed the city, and i wish it would grow up and learn to cope with snow
  • the end

my life as a DC intern
